Vela Microboards Northern Ireland - Vela Microboards Northern Ireland is the first affiliate of Vela Microboard Association of B.C. From 1998 until the summer of 2004 the Executive Director from Vela Microboard Association worked with a dedicated group of families, community members and government staff to create an environment ready to support the development of Microboards. The volunteers involved in this work created Vela Microboards Northern Ireland. This link will connect you to their work and the latest information on their progress.

Community Opportunities - Community Opportunities is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in southwest Virginia dedicated to forming circles of support and microboards around people with significant disabilities. Our mission is to help people with significant disabilities lead full, rich lives as active, contributing members of their communities.

Community Opportunities grew out of a commitment to seeing that people with disabilities in our community have a chance to live self-determined lives -- lives full of choice, control, friendship, and membership in the community. We work to see this happens for the people we serve by helping to form support networks around them called microboards.

We call our website "The Kitchen Table" because that's where we started -- around a kitchen table -- in 1998. We began with a simple conversation about what really matters in life -- our relationships and our commitment to one another. And from there we developed some ideas about how to support our friends and neighbors in real and enduring ways. Welcome to our table. Join us in our commitment!
